Crisis support, right now

You are not alone. Free, confidential help is available 24/7.

Terms of Use

Simple terms, plain language.

Welcome to Journey Magazine. These terms cover your use of journey-magazine.com, the Recovery Basics Course, the Recovery Directory, and anything else we publish under the Journey name (together, “the site”). Journey Magazine is published by Journey Enterprises, LLC, a Maine company.

By using the site, you agree to these terms. If you don’t, please don’t use the site.

What Journey is

Journey publishes recovery stories and support resources. We’re a for-profit publication that distributes free content because recovery should be visible before crisis, not after. The site is open to anyone. No login. No registration. No paywall.

What Journey is not

Journey is not a treatment provider, a crisis service, or a substitute for professional care. Nothing on the site is medical, clinical, legal, or financial advice. The stories we publish are personal experiences, not prescriptions. If you or someone you love is in crisis, call or text 988, or contact a licensed professional.

Your use of the site

You’re welcome to read, share, link to, and quote our content with attribution. You may not:

  • Copy or republish full articles or substantial portions of content without written permission
  • Misrepresent Journey content as your own
  • Use the site to harass, threaten, or harm anyone
  • Attempt to access parts of the site that aren’t publicly available
  • Use automated tools to scrape or harvest content

Story submissions

If you submit a story, letter, or other content to Journey, you keep the copyright to your work. By submitting, you give Journey Enterprises, LLC a non-exclusive, perpetual, worldwide license to edit, publish, reprint, and distribute your work in any format we use, including the print magazine, the website, newsletters, social posts, and future archives.

You’re telling us that the work is yours, that it’s truthful as you know it, and that publishing it won’t violate anyone else’s rights or privacy. If you’re writing about other people, we trust you to be thoughtful about names, identifying details, and permissions where they matter.

We edit submissions for clarity, length, and brand voice. We may decline to publish work for any reason. We don’t pay for submissions unless we’ve agreed to that in writing.

Our content

Everything Journey produces, including articles, photos, illustrations, design, the Recovery Basics Course, and the Recovery Directory, is owned by Journey Enterprises, LLC or used with permission. Linking to us is encouraged. Republishing in full requires written permission. Email us and ask. We’re usually agreeable.

Third-party links and resources

Journey points to outside organizations, programs, websites, and resources. We do this because the recovery landscape is broad and readers deserve options. We don’t control those organizations and we’re not responsible for what they do or say. Inclusion in a Journey article or in the Recovery Directory is not an endorsement of any specific program.

No warranty

We work hard to keep Journey accurate and useful. We can’t guarantee the site is error-free, available without interruption, or fits any particular need. The site is provided as-is.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, Journey Enterprises, LLC is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages from your use of the site. If a court finds us liable for something despite this, our total liability is limited to one hundred dollars.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms when our practices change. The “last updated” date at the top tells you when. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Maine. Any dispute will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Maine.
