As the author of a soon-to-be-released novel titled THESE THINGS HAPPEN (Girl Friday Books, Sept. 19, 2023), I made the decision early on in the writing process to use a pen name. Because the novel includes a great deal of fictionalized description of AA meetings and the process of the Twelve Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous, based on my own real-life experiences as an AA member, I thought it best to use a pen name to respect the traditions and preserve my personal anonymity.
